Dog Lay Afternoon

A young girl witnesses her mother having sex with the family dog. When her father finds out, he burns the dog alive. She is so traumatized by these incidents that she later turns into a nymphomaniac. She moves to an island and lives there with her own dog, having sex with various guests who visit her.

Directed by Peter Skerl, Dog Lay Afternoon leans on a strong ensemble — Philippe March, Juliette Mayniel, Enrico Maria Salerno — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1976.
