New York Tunez, an all techno record store, is going under. The owner, Keith, a down and out trance DJ, struggles to cope with the changing cultural climate. In a final effort to save the store he organizes a rave. Unfortunately, 2009 is a far cry from the early '90s.
Directed by Michael M. Bilandic, Happy Life leans on a strong ensemble — Tom McCaffrey, Amanda Salane, Gilles Decamps — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 2011.
