Ebrahim

Ebrahim, 12, to help the widowed mother, lets herself be exploited by a statuary manufacturer. At school he makes friends with an older boy, an orphan of a father who lost his leg during a bombardment. With his great fortitude he will try to teach his younger friend how to be respected.

Directed by Hamid Reza Mohseni, Ebrahim leans on a strong ensemble — Shahnam Shahabi, Hassan Sadeghi, Aida Mohammadkhani — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 1996.
