About Empire of Evil
Arms dealer Sayed competes with Mahmoud, who works in the same trade, and both are subject to a foreign American/Israeli organization based outside Egypt. A terrorist incident occurs in which the child Shaimaa was killed in Cairo, so Sayed remembers his daughter and carries out a suicide operation in which he blows up the organization's building outside.
Directed by Ismael Gamal, Empire of Evil leans on a strong ensemble — Sherif Abdel Monem, Ghassan Matar, Wafaa Amer — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about thriller titles of 1998.
