About Life Sentence
An inmate tending the prison grounds notices the woman next door neighbor often watches him. He sneaks over to visit and tells her he will be released in two weeks. He says he plans on coming for her to take her away. While she has pleaded with her husband to move away from the prison, he has his reasons for wanting to stay. The prisoner could be the answer to her problem.
Directed by Garry Simpson, Life Sentence leans on a strong ensemble — James Dean, Georgann Johnson, Nicholas Saunders — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about tv movie titles of 1953.
