About The End of a Priest
A verger, who likes to dress as a priest, is invited, by one of the villagers, to be the pastor at a vacant church. The atheist teacher resents the pastor, and tries to embarrass him in various ways, including being caught with the local girl, Majka.
Directed by Evald Schorm, The End of a Priest leans on a strong ensemble — Vlastimil Brodský, Jan Libíček, Jana Brejchová — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 1969.
