Shinji (Kawaguchi Takahiro), who wanted to be a writer, impersonates a depraved man by the name of Tokio and sends constant e-mails to his wife Misa (Komatsu Miyuki). Misa eventually succumbs to his passionate e-mail advances, and decides to meet him under the condition that she does so blindfolded.
Directed by Yoshihisa Kodama, On a Better Night than Usual leans on a strong ensemble — Miyuki Komatsu, Takahiro Kawaguchi, Ayano — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 2010.
