About Lolita 2000
A young girl, Lolita, runs away from home. After many adventures, she meets Marco, the son of a government official. Meanwhile, Karpov, vice-minister of the Soviet Union, arrives in Rome. In concluding a trade agreement, he is about to be the victim of a colossal scam. Lolita, despite her modest intelligence, discovers the shady affair, all in favor of Marco, something which opens up horizons of lucrative activity. While Karpov leaves Rome, Lolita starts wandering again, venturing further into her many occasional "friendships".
Directed by Claudio Papalia, Lolita 2000 leans on a strong ensemble — Petra Scharbach, Barbarella, Giancarlo Teodori — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1990.
