About Happy Reunion
The film tells the story of a country rebuilding itself after World War II. In a lively socialist competition between two collective farms, two lovers, Bidzina and Eteri, are actively involved. Bidzina has brought home the son of a fallen comrade from the front, whom Eteri mistakenly believes to be Bidzina's child. This temporary misunderstanding leads to a series of comedic situations.
Directed by Nikoloz Sanishvili, Happy Reunion leans on a strong ensemble — Veriko Anjaparidze, Dodo Chichinadze, Shalva Gambashidze — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about romance titles of 1949.
