
During the 16th century, Japan was involved in the Sengoku Period, an era of civil wars and the powerful warlords who fought them. One of the earliest and strongest of these men was the Lord Takeda Shingen, a tremendous military genius.
Directed by Sadao Nakajima, Takeda Shingen leans on a strong ensemble — Koji Yakusho, Masumi Miyazaki, Yūko Natori — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about tv movie titles of 1991.
