Strange events in Sapmiland, winter 1985. Featuring Sami music, with Mattis Hætta making a comeback after his Grand Prix appearance in 1980. Sami folk singer Mari Boine Persen, the Sami pop group Captain Morgan, and Ellen Marit Eira Solbakke perform traditional joik. Contemporary Sami music is also presented by Halvdan Nedrefjord.
Directed by Johs Kalvemo, Dag Hermansen, Fra lavvo til disco leans on a strong ensemble — Nils Utsi, Maryon Eilertsen, Sverre Porsanger — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 1985.
