ქალიშვილი გაღმიდან

A mountain river divides the village of Soviet Georgia and Turkey. A young border guard, Temur, notices that his daughter on the other side has fallen off a wooden bridge and into the river. Temur immediately jumps into the water and saves his daughter. Fatman is haunted by the entire village, the border guards. He now sees Soviet life with different eyes, but is forced to surrender to the Turkish authorities and return home. But Kolishvili's newly acquired friends and the days spent with them are deeply imprinted in his mind.

Directed by Leo Esakia, ქალიშვილი გაღმიდან leans on a strong ensemble — Medea Japaridze, Elisabed Cherqezishvili, Mikheil Mgeladze — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1940.
