About The Laboratory
Based on the story by B.Polishchuk “The Laboratory of Voskoboinikov". Due to the need to reduce staff, the head of the laboratory, not wanting to make a choice himself, entrusts this ”slippery” task to the entire team, and he goes on a business trip. Upon arrival, it turns out that not only has no one been fired, but they have also achieved an increase in staff.
Directed by Aleksandr Pankratov, The Laboratory leans on a strong ensemble — Vsevolod Shilovsky, Sergey Shakurov, Oleg Golubitsky — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1979.
