About An Aria on Gazes
Housewife Kyoko begins moonlighting at a mysterious sex club as a means of rebelling against her boring salaryman husband Akihito. The Bedroom isn’t like any normal club, though: the female hostesses all take the powerful sedative Halcion to sleep through their encounters with the male clientele.
Directed by Hisayasu Satō, An Aria on Gazes leans on a strong ensemble — Kiyomi Itō, Momori Asano, Kyoko Nakamura — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1992.
