About Kokoro no nichigetsu
Reiko Minagawa leaves her home in Okayama to avoid an arranged marriage she doesn't want. Upon arriving in Tokyo, she calls Akira Isomura, a college student for whom she has feelings. Isomura is pleasantly surprised by her call, and promises to meet her at the train station entrance in about ten minutes. However, unaware that there are two entrances, the two of them spend hours waiting at different gates and are ultimately unable to meet.
Directed by Keigo Kimura, Kokoro no nichigetsu leans on a strong ensemble — Ayako Wakao, Kenji Sugawara, Miyuki Tateyama — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1954.
