Tsure komi ryokan no waka okami

The small suburban Hazuki Inn was run by a reliable and hardworking proprietress, Kana. Her husband, Satoshi, was a playboy and a lazy husband who spent all his money on gambling and women. The Hazuki Inn was also a merchant's inn where salesmen stayed, but a large part of its business was as a place to bring couples.

Directed by Junichi Suzuki, Tsure komi ryokan no waka okami leans on a strong ensemble — Yumi Hayakawa, Shoji Yamaguchi, Masahiro Noguchi — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 1994.
