Unhappy with her life with her husband, a university professor who only deals with numbers, Chitose begins a lesbian relationship with Harumi whom she meets again at a class reunion, and begins to treat her husband coldly. One day, Harumi cheats on her with another woman, and she tells him she wants to cut him off, but her husband continues to cheat on her, and she lives in regret. One day, Harumi attempts suicide, but it was all a farce so that she could meet Chitose. Chitose rushes to her and tells her she's had enough of men.
Directed by Sakae Nitta, Akajuban les: Jukujo kosuriai leans on a strong ensemble — Madoka Kyōno, Kyôko Kazama, Tomomi Aizawa — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 2002.
