Three years after her husband passed away, the widow is still taking care of her father-in-law, a novelist, and has not divorced her husband. The widow was dozing off next to her father-in-law, who was writing an essay on a word processor, when he came to deliver her homemade strawberry jam and fell asleep while talking. The essay she was writing next to him was titled "My Daughter-in-law, Me, and Strawberry Jam" and it seems that her father-in-law is also attracted to her. She has a sex friend, but it is a man who was her husband's best friend, and she only sees him as someone to relieve her sexual frustration, but the man is in love with her...
Directed by Masaharu Ito, Yome no kokuhaku: Sugoi! Otôsan no yubizukai leans on a strong ensemble — Yuriko Sakuma, Kinichi Kusumi, Yamakiyo — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 1998.
