Wanne-Eickel in 2017: Tobias, Düse and Schnipsel, three real losers, shoot what is probably the worst horror film in the world 6000 meters underground with grandpa's Super 8 camera. Although no one is interested in their work, they try to raise money for new projects by working crappy jobs for a brothel and nightclub owner. When the trio work as temporary waiters at a prince's gala, the prince's crazy daughter Ludmilla falls in love with Tobias. However, this conjures up some almost cinematic entanglements involving murder, girls and millions.
Directed by Alexander von Janitzky, Der Prinz aus Wanne-Eickel leans on a strong ensemble — Jürgen Drews, Roberto Blanco, Sibylle Rauch — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 2006.
