The Showa era was coming to an end, and the Heisei era was about to begin. Chikage (Tomoda Ayaka) and Ryuhei, newlyweds living in an apartment, get into a trivial argument over food, but at night they make up by having sex and think about the new era. In contrast to the two of them, Shota, a part-time worker living in the next room, is spending his days in agony. Shota, who has no luck with women, is addicted to telephone clubs, and is called "Telephone Club Jizo" by Satsuki (Natsume Airi), an office lady living in the same apartment, and Aya (Usui Saryu), a colleague, who often sees him in front of the station where they meet.
Directed by Tetsuya Takehora, Neighbor's Moans: Caught between a Married Woman and an Office Lady leans on a strong ensemble — Ayaka Tomoda, Airi Natsume, Saryu Usui — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 2019.
