Mon Jaai

The film revolves around the lives of four unemployed educated youths from lower-middle-class families of Tinsukia, Assam who are entangled by their own misfortunes. Set amidst a period of extremist uprisings, frequent bombings, corruption, and socio-political unrest, the movie tries to explore the struggles and aspirations of the helpless youth in a small town trying to meet ends, while facing the burden of responsibilities.

Directed by Moirangthem Maniram, Mon Jaai leans on a strong ensemble — Zubeen Garg, Nabadeep Borgohain, Gyanendra Pallab Baruah — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 2008.
