About The Last Stop of the Ibex
Inspired by the renowned poet Yavuukhulan Begz poem “The Resting Place of the Mountain Goat”, this film explores the deep and harmonious connection between the Mongolian people and nature. The story centers on an old man who lives with his grandson. As the old man’s health begins to decline, a mountain goat appears and rests near their home a symbolic act in line with nature's rhythm. Until the very moment the goat naturally dies at this resting place, it watches over and protects the boy, illustrating the profound bond between humans, animals, and the natural world.
Directed by Davaadorj Sharavdorj, The Last Stop of the Ibex leans on a strong ensemble — Tserendorj Enkhbold, Tsog Yondon, Tumurkhuyag Tsegmid — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 2006.
