The film is a short story about a guy called Steve who has struggled with the Christian faith, having seen his parents, who are both Christians, break up because of his dad's unfaithfulness. Steve is having problems relating with God, with his mum, and is being bullied at school. Steve's mum is a committed Christian who believes in the Word of God and prayer. When Steve continuously gets bullied and stolen from, will the prayers of his mother be answered, or will Steve continue to suffer? Can things turn around for Steve? Is there hope in his situation?
Directed by Barnabas Lawson, Always There leans on a strong ensemble — Robert Feldman, Clive Woodward, Oliver Stark — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 2011.
