The Holy Ghost is a supernatural gunfighter dressed in white and with a dove sitting on his shoulder. With his sidekick, the Holy Ghost rescues some farmers from the fortified prison of the evil General Ubarte, then raids the castle again for gold treasure aided by some local prostitutes.
Directed by Giuliano Carnimeo, His Name Was Holy Ghost leans on a strong ensemble — Gianni Garko, Pilar Velázquez, Cris Huerta — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about western titles of 1972.
