About The Fugitive from "Yantarny"
Based on the story "The Chicken God" by Y. Zbanatsky. Six-year-old Sergei from the Yantarny kindergarten finds a magical stone – "the chicken god." When he looks through a hole in the stone, the world becomes magical and beautiful. With this treasure, Seryozha sets off on a journey, meeting all kinds of people, until his teachers find him.
Directed by Yevgeni Bryunchugin, Igor Vetrov, The Fugitive from "Yantarny" leans on a strong ensemble — Serhii Nychypor, Liliya Yudina, Valentyna Hryshokina — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about family titles of 1969.
