Yuka, a high school girl bullied at school and neglected by a mother obsessed with casual affairs, made a habit of going to the rooftop of a dilapidated building while still in her uniform. There, she encountered a middle-aged man named Namiki who was attempting to jump to his death. However, Yuka’s unpredictable behavior caused Namiki to lose the urge to commit suicide; noticing the bandages wrapped around her hands, he revealed that he had been driven to despair by losing his job, and the two began to open up to one another...
Directed by Minoru Kunizawa, Juhassai, Seifuku no munamoto leans on a strong ensemble — Haruna Haruda, Ruri Tachibana, Moe Sakura — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 2003.
