Rich heir Ekwara suffers from a peculiar curse, every woman he marries mysteriously die within a month of their marriage, causing him to earn the nickname of The Wife Eater. Depressed over his predicament, he attempts suicide but is saved by a woman named Priaow, who quickly falls in love with him to the dismay of her mother.
Directed by Dokdin Kunyamarn, The Wife Eater leans on a strong ensemble — Sombat Metanee, Wandee Sritrang, Suriya Chinaphan — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 1974.
