About Bajo el Sol de España
Carmen, a recently retired woman from León, sets off on a spontaneous trip with her family to the Catalan ‘Golden Coast' after the death of the family matriarch. What starts off as a simple farewell, or so she thinks, turns into a journey back to her roots and a part of herself she’d never really known about. It’s a comedy about family, identity, and the courage it takes to start over, no matter if it’s sooner rather than later, or later rather than sooner.
Directed by Carla Álvarez, Bajo el Sol de España leans on a strong ensemble — Belinda Washington, Vanessa Margó, Elena Vilaplana — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 2025.
