About Ninkyo Onsen Ryokan
Yumi and her boyfriend Goro run a long-established inn in a deserted hot spring resort in place of their useless father, who is infatuated with his seductive mistress, Miyako. As their beloved inn faces the threat of land speculation by the yakuza, a mysterious and skilled drifter, Kazama, appears before them. Yumi is seduced by his thrilling and wild charm, but the yakuza, unconcerned with the consequences, attack in an attempt to forcibly take over the inn! Will Yumi and her friends be able to bring love and peace back to the hot spring resort?
Directed by Hideyuki Tsukimoto, Ninkyo Onsen Ryokan leans on a strong ensemble — Akari Niimura, Cocona Asakura, Daikei Shimizu — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 2023.
