About Ryoko, the Deceiver Queen - How to Fool a Con Man
A single woman shows up at a marriage consultation office, but the office is run by people plotting marriage fraud. The woman is the daughter of a wealthy family and falls head over heels in love with the man she is introduced to. The fraud group then smoothly manipulates the woman and appears to have made a large sum of money, but in fact it is the fraud group that has had their money stolen from them. The woman who stole the money is the genius con artist Ryoko.
Directed by Jirō Ishikawa, Ryoko, the Deceiver Queen - How to Fool a Con Man leans on a strong ensemble — Yuko Sakurai, Tarô Ran, Mikihiro Hyôdo — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 2010.
