About The Millionaire Groom
A Lost Persian Film. A poor young man is infatuated with the daughter of a wealthy businessman. In order to get close to the girl, the young man introduces himself as an Indian millionaire, and the girl's greedy father accepts him. But soon the young man's lie is exposed, and just as the father is about to hand him over to the law, news arrives that a large inheritance has been transferred to the young man. Thus, the wealthy businessman changes his mind again and marries his daughter to the young man.
Directed by Salar Eshghi, The Millionaire Groom leans on a strong ensemble — Gholamhossein Bahmanyar, Sima, AliMohammad Noorbakhsh — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 1959.
