
The lead character, Sujay, goes to Kolkata for career prospects and is introduced to a rich industrialist. Negotiations begin for Sujay to marry the industrialist's daughter, Polly, and he goes abroad for studies. Back in the village, his wife Vijaya (whom he was forced to marry earlier) is shattered. When Sujay returns, he ultimately declares Vijaya as his life partner.
Directed by Narayan Chandra Ghos, Samadhan leans on a strong ensemble — Prosenjit Chatterjee, Rituparna Sengupta, Soumitra Chatterjee — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1997.
