In a futuristic society being decimated by plague, a fascist movement seizes power and quarantines not only the plague victims, but anyone related to them. Rebels trying to assassinate a particularly reactionary senator stumble onto a computer programmer trying to track and eradicate the disease.
Directed by Charles Wilkinson, Quarantine leans on a strong ensemble — Beatrice Boepple, Garwin Sanford, Jerry Wasserman — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about science fiction titles of 1989.
