Total absurdity right off the bat, as a suited pervert harassing stewardesses in a white aeroplane suddenly finds himself dropped among buffaloes in a field in Isan. Iconic Isan farang movie star Martin Wheeler is the village headman who can’t live without inhaling his wife’s cleavage. Despite the cartoonish, sped-up and silly veneer, it has strong resonance, as in the psycho freak-out scene amidst ancient ruins. Plus the cast of great faces, the acting, the camera placement and editing in this shoestring movie outshine most big budget Thai films.
Directed by Thepanom Piriyaworakul, Bugsyder: The Crazy Hero leans on a strong ensemble — Dumrongpon Ramagorn, Boonsri Yindee, Lakana Udsri — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 2025.
