
"Nemat" is a simple shepherd who marries a girl named "Satare". Setare is the target of a smuggler named "Jasem". Nemat gets into a fight with him over Setare and ends up in prison with Jasem's shoes. In Nemat's absence, Setare, out of fear of Jasem, goes to the desert with "Tuba" (Nemat's sister who was raped by Jasem). When Nemat returns, when Jasem spreads rumors against Setare, Touba, who hates Jasem deeply, kills him in a fight and goes to prison herself. Nemat and Setare also start a simple life.
Directed by Reza Safaei, Poor Fellow leans on a strong ensemble — Nematollah Aghasi, Haleh Nazari, Hosein Gil — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1974.
