About The Village Boy
With a fire in a village hut, the family man dies, and an urban couple takes one of the rural children named Mahmoud to the city and raises him. The mother raises her other child, Jafar. Years later, Jafar is a zealous villager who has fallen for Leila, Murad Khan's daughter. On the other hand, Jahangir Khan, Qoli Khan's son, the headman of the upper village, intends to deceive Leila. Meanwhile, a health corpsman named Mahmoud enters the village.
Directed by Azizollah Rafiei, The Village Boy leans on a strong ensemble — Abbas Ghajar, Adel Roohi, Ebrahim Naderi — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 1966.
