About The Sunny Man
Akbar and Hamid work in a photography workshop. After the owner passes away, his daughter wants to sell the shop. She gives Akbar and Hamid, who are willing to buy it, a six-month deadline to provide the money. They decide to go to Japan and work as laborers to gain the money to buy the shop, but they get into some troubles in that country and prefer to come back to their homeland.
Directed by Homayoun Assadian, The Sunny Man leans on a strong ensemble — Akbar Abdi, Masoud Afshar, Reza Babak — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 1995.
