About Imparture
This is a tale of Hong Kong, of the the students who fight for democracy. In the afternoon of the election day, a student broke the rules by broadcasting the song of democracy in the school's broadcasting room. Today they face a trial from the teacher, who asks them to snitch on the troublemaker. The students all tell a different tale, protecting each other despite their different backgrounds, identities, and privileges. The trial continues till the evening, and it only ends at night. Is this an evening of resistenc, or an evening before sunrise and hope?
Directed by Chu Ka Shing, Imparture leans on a strong ensemble — Tunes Ting Tung-Yan, So Chun-Wai, Chow Man Chung — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 2014.
