About Hendoone-ye Shab-e Yalda
A watermelon vendor sells all his watermelons with a pickup truck, leaving one very large watermelon. A man comes to buy a watermelon, but because he doesn't have enough money, he returns empty-handed. After him, an old man comes and buys the watermelon. When he goes home, due to a fight with his wife, he throws the watermelon out the window in anger, and it falls into a van.
Directed by Saeed Aghakhani, Hendoone-ye Shab-e Yalda leans on a strong ensemble — Mehran Ghafourian, Saeed Aghakhani, Siamak Ansari — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 2007.
