An Iraqi film about a woman trapped in an unhappy marriage to a husband consumed by delusions and suspicion. Seeking emotional refuge, she turns to those around her, hoping for compassion that might rescue her from her suffering, but in vain. Each person is burdened by their own struggles. Left with no one to rely on, she ultimately finds strength in asserting her identity and standing firm in who she is.
Directed by Bassam Al Wardi, On a Travel Night leans on a strong ensemble — Hind Kamil, Izz ad-Din Tabo, Bahgat Al Jubouri — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 1990.
