Snapshots

A documentary film about Dežo Ursiny, one of the greatest personalities in Slovak music. The film features people on whom he left a deep mark during his lifetime – his long-time collaborator, poet Ivan Štrpka, colleagues Marián Varga and Andrej Šeban, as well as producers, friends, and sons. Through short "snapshots," as one of Ursiny's albums was titled, Krištúfek composes a portrait of this remarkable artist from his bohemian youth to his ascetic period of inner reconciliation before his untimely death.

Directed by Peter Krištúfek, Snapshots leans on a strong ensemble — Dežo Ursiny, Jakub Ursiny, Oskar Rózsa — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about music titles of 2008.
