
Takashi and four of his classmates, fourth-grade students, cannot succeed in doing a forward pullover around a horizontal bar. Their P.E. teacher warns them: they have one week to succeed; if they resign now, then, tomorrow, facing life difficulties, they will always run away and become bums.
Directed by Tetsuya Nakashima, Happy-Go-Lucky leans on a strong ensemble — Hidaka Yoshitomo, Nagi Noriko, Ittoku Kishibe — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1997.
