Armi Kuusela is sitting in front of the fireplace in her fur coat during a language lesson, the male teacher asks her to speak English, Armi offers her a bowl of Budapest sweets and the man also makes the mistake of speaking Finnish. Three young women having coffee in the living room, one reading, the other taking Budapest. At home, she reads the script aloud and eats a cocktail chocolate bar.

Directed by Orvo Saarikivi, Armin päivä leans on a strong ensemble — Armi Kuusela — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about documentary titles of 1953.
