About Pick It Up and Throw It Away!
Hiroko Hoshi, an office lady with a pathological love for picking up trash, encounters TOKYO SOYLENT GREEN, a volunteer group cleaning parks for the Tokyo Olympics, and joins their activities. Eventually, she becomes entangled in a conflict between a gang of delinquents who vandalize the parks and TOKYO SOYLENT GREEN, and in the process, her true nature as a trash-collecting person awakens.
Directed by Takashi Ono, Pick It Up and Throw It Away! leans on a strong ensemble — Maiko Mineo, Hitoshi Kuno, Fumiko Sakai — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 2019.
