About Hahamusume maruhi chijou: Kaikan meromero
Keiko, an insurance saleswoman, and her daughter Satsuki have a sister-like relationship. One morning, Satsuki says she wants to introduce her fiance to Keiko. However, this sparks a physical fight between the two. That night, after both being dumped by their boyfriends, the mother and daughter drink heavily to vent their frustrations, and enter a strange world in a suspicious alleyway.
Directed by Mototsugu Watanabe, Hahamusume maruhi chijou: Kaikan meromero leans on a strong ensemble — Sana, Reira Misaki, Minami Aiyama — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 2011.
