First Garrison

This is a story about a young second lieutenant Janković who, after graduating from the Military Academy, comes to the unit for his first officer's duty. The film follows the period of his adjustment, getting to know the collective, establishing the first meetings with soldiers and elders, the city and the environment in which he lives. Crises and dilemmas were quickly overcome. The collective accepted the young officer thanks to his knowledge, skill and ability to establish real human relations. This is actually the first and introductory story from the series about the life of an officer.

Directed by Radomir Šaranović, First Garrison leans on a strong ensemble — Branko Đurić, Vesna Čipčić, Milan 'Lane' Gutović — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1976.
