Soldier Vasily with the call sign "Bernes" is going on vacation to Donetsk. But on the way to the "loaf" on which he is riding, a shell hits and seriously injures a man. Overcoming pain and fear, Bernes crawls through the minefield to his own. Meanwhile, his family is waiting for him in Donetsk — his wife and little daughter, who recently enrolled in a music school. Despite the shelling of a peaceful city, the girl learns to sing and waits for a holiday — the day when her father returns home.

Directed by Yulia Pankosyanova, Holiday leans on a strong ensemble — Aleksandr Noskov, Anastasiya Valieva — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 2024.
