Mumbai Meri Jaan

When a series of bombs explode in train stations throughout Mumbai, a disparate group of locals are affected in different ways. Thomas, who sells tea, meets Rupali, a reporter coping with the death of her fiancé. Meanwhile, Suresh, who is struggling with financial woes, begins to be overly suspect of all Muslims. For Sunil, a policeman working on the case, there is frustration at realizing his corrupt boss is still on the take.

Directed by Nishikant Kamat, Mumbai Meri Jaan leans on a strong ensemble — Paresh Rawal, Irrfan Khan, Kay Kay Menon — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 2008.
