About Wakagibo: Mushaburi kuu
After her company went bankrupt due to the recession, her husband Haruki was bedridden. His young wife, Kiyomi, who was a decade younger than him, devotedly cared for him, sometimes using her own youthful body. However, Kana, the wife of their eldest son who lived with them, assumed that Kiyomi had married him only for his inheritance and treated her harshly. Kana had been plotting to bring Kiyomi down, and as a result, Kiyomi and the second son, Shiro, were captured by a masked man, and Kiyomi was raped in front of Haruki. But was that all part of her plan?!
Directed by Tetsuya Takehora, Wakagibo: Mushaburi kuu leans on a strong ensemble — AYA, Kaho Kasumi, Miho Wakabayashi — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 2009.
