About Namajiri musume no aegi jiru
Majima, a yakuza boss who killed a leader of a rival organization, is on the run from the police. Nao, a high school girl who can't find what she wants to do with her life, meets by chance and they connect. With nowhere to go at home or school, Nao tries to escape to him, but Majima, being a yakuza, pushes her away. What will become of the two of them...?
Directed by Akira Fukamachi, Namajiri musume no aegi jiru leans on a strong ensemble — Kazuhiro Sano, Nao Saitô, Tomomi Aizawa — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 1998.
